  12. !注意: • We do not usually use ought to for questions. ought to 通常不用于疑问形式,疑问句中用的是should. e.g. He ought to go. Should he go? 2.Modal verbs never change their form. We do not add s in the 3rd person singular form, or tense markers with modal verbs. 情态动词的形式永远不变, 第三人称单数后面不加s, 情态动词也没有时态的标记。 e.g. He shoulds solve the problem. 3

  15. Writing: clauses of purpose 目的壮语从句 Use Clauses of purpose answer the question why? Or what for? They are subordinate clauses. We are doing it now to avoid problems in the future. I need to reduce costs in order to keep within the budget. I need to reduce the costs in order not to go over budget.

  17. Negative 否定形式 • The negative of to is in order not to. to的否定形式是in order not to. e.g. I’ll write it down in order not to forget it. 2. To make a negative of so that and in order that, we must change the second clause. So that 和in order that 的否定形式必须改变第二个分句。 e.g. We are buying new software so that we won’t have to do so much paperwork.
