LPSA 2 • BACKGROUND • AIM – Increased number and extent of people participating in local volunteering and community activities • MEASURE – Percentage of people surveyed aged 16 or over who have been involved in formal volunteering over the past 12 months for an average of 2 hours a week or more • BASELINE – 22% in August / September 2005 • TARGET – 25.5% by June / July 2009

LPSA 2 (cont) ACTION PLAN Increase retention rates of existing volunteers and of people who express an interest in volunteering • Work with organisations to promote best practice • Training courses on retaining volunteers Encourage more people to volunteer • Increased publicity • Work with organisational to promote best practice • Training for organisations on attracting volunteers RESOURCES AVAILABLE LPSA pump priming Existing resources within organisation

  4. LAA NI 6 NATIONAL INDICATORS • New measure of public sector performance via 198 national indicators • Areas chose up to 35 target where local performance needs to be improved for inclusion in LAA • Volunteering target (NI 6) included in Hampshire LAA

AIM – Increased participation in regular volunteering MEASURE – Percentage of people surveyed who have participated in formal volunteering at least once a month in the 12 months before interview BASELINE – 24.2% in October 2008 TARGET – 25.2% ACTION PLAN – the purpose of Today’s Events RESOURCES AVAILABLE – Existing resources within organisations only
