Questionnaire to NSO on coordination of NSS and reporting data mechanisms to International agencies • Purpose • To build a process analysis of coordination within NSS and reporting data mechanisms to international agencies, which will assist in the design and development of strategies to improve the collection of data for the MDG database.

  3. Describe current problems with coordination of NSS • Multiplicity and recurrence of competence in the collection and dissemination of data among multiple destinations within the statistical system-Egypt • The late flow of data regarding MDG.- Yemen • The nature of data as they require updating.- Yemen • Lack of quality administrative records in governmental line ministries-OPT • There is no common established body to link this-sudan

  4. The office could not reply to all requests sent by international agencies • There are missing data in ministries and offices- Iraq • Some data for some indicators may not be available- Sudan

  5. Which measures taken in the last 2 years to improve national coordination in the reporting of official statistics to international agencies? • Coordination with government agencies in the standardization of definitions, concepts and evidence.- Egypt • Update a database for the indicators of the Millennium. Egypt • Work is done according to the international measures regarding MDG indicators as well as dissemination.-Yemen • Prepared National Strategy for the Development of Statistics-opt • Establishment of SudanInfo system

Since 2008, the Department of Statistics under the HCP developed a strategy for statistical development for the next five years, Action Plan 2008 - 2012, Strengthening the legal and institutional framework of the national statistical system, including the revision of legislation on the statistical law, the National Council of Statistics and the national directory of businesses. Organized a regional workshop on "National Strategies for Statistical Development" Supported monitoring progress made towards achieving MDGs and other development goals.

Describe current problems on reporting mechanisms of data used for the MDG indicators to international agencies • The multiplicity and recurrence of competence in the collection and dissemination of data-Egypt • Some data are not available due to that it needs to conduct surveys.- Yemen • There is no annual questionnaire send from UNSD to collect data of MDGs from the countries-opt • Weak coordination between the different agencies involved in the MDG national Report preparation • Weak coordination between the Central Bureau of Statistics and the states • the existence of one country two systems in the Sudan ( North Sudan and Southern Sudan each with its own government ) • The last report was produced in 2004- Sudan • The statistical operations in terms of demographic and health surveys are not periodic (especially health conducted by the Ministry of Health) to assess demographic parameters, including maternal and child mortality (Goal 4, 5 and 6) - Morocco
