Time-resolved RIXS on Correlated Materials • RIXS: • Charge Transfer • Spin • Orbital • Lattice • Many-body wavefunction mapping High-Tccuprates Bi2201 Single magnon Important characterization tools for non-equilibrium dynamics! Quasi 1D edge shared cuprates • Wish List: (an x-ray FEL for spectroscopy) • Soft x-ray, 400-2000 eV • THz to Mid-IR pumping. • Seeded x-ray FEL: • Tunable transform limited x-ray FEL. (DE < 100 meV, Dt ~ 100 fs) • Less jitter, especially in intensity • No need for Monochromator -> more flux • Tight focus (<10 um) -> high resolution for the RIXS spectrometer. • Higher Repetition rate for more flux (?) • Sufficient space in hutch to accommodate high resolution spectrometer (~ 5m) at different 2q angles, (say 30 - 160+).
