  • The adult brain weighs about 3 lbs - about 2% of body weight

  • It uses 25% of the body’s oxygen and as much as 20% of the blood’s sugar (about 400 calories per day)

  • About 50% of the “dry” weight of the brain is fat - 35% of that is omega-3 fats
