  11. STONE AGE TOOLS • TOOL - any handheld object that has been modified to help a person accomplish a task / pick up a tool • Stone tools first used / why? • First part of Stone Age is called the Paleolithic Era

  12. STONE AGE TOOLS • Found oldest tools in Tanzania (East Africa) • Size of adult’s fist / 2.6 million years old • Think these tools used to process food / choppers • Then came hand ax • Then learned to attach wooden handles to stone for hunting • Hunted horses, deer, bison, mammoths
