  1. Chemical Reactions By: Andrew E

  2. Synthesis • Magnesium forms with Nitrogen to make Magnesium Nitride • Mg + N  Mg2N3 • Smaller reactants combine to form larger products

  3. Synthesis • Magnesium and nitrogen form magnesium nitride • 3Mg(S) + N2(G) Mg3N2(S)

  4. Decomposition • Magnesium Nitride breaks down to form Magnesium and Nitrogen • MgNMgN • One larger reaction is broken down into two or more smaller parts

  5. Decomposition • Magnesium Nitride breaks down to form Magnesium and Nitrogen • MgNMg + N

  6. Single Replacement Zinc forms with the Chlorine form the Zinc Chloride Zn + 2HCl -> ZnCl2 + H2Cl2 A single replacement reaction, sometimes called a single displacement reaction, is a chemical reaction where one element replaces another element in a compound to increase stability.

  7. Single Replacement • Zn + 2HCl -> ZnCl2 + H2

  8. Double Replacement AgNO3+ NaCl → Ag + NaClNO3 A double replacement reaction is a chemical reaction where two reactant ionic compounds exchange ions to form two new product compounds with the same ions.

  9. Double Replacement • AgNO3 + NaCl → AgCl + NaNO3
