  3. Adversities (noun. pl.) Great misfortunes; hardships The many adversities Odysseus faces causes him to be a better man.

  4. Adorn (verb) Add beauty to; decorate The mermaids adorn themselves with shells and seaweed.

  5. Keen (adjective) Sharp, vivid, strong, sensitive Betsy has a keen interest in animals; she has always wanted to be a veterinarian.

  6. Revelry (noun) Merrymaking; festivity Our wedding revelry lasted until dawn.

  7. Restitution (noun) Compensation; repayment When I accidentally knocked over my neighbor’s mailbox, I had to offer restitution for its repair.

  8. Glowered (verb) Glared; stared angrily The giant glowered at the dwarves before roaring and chasing them out of his forest.

  9. Lavished (verb) Gave generously The wealthy man lavished gifts on all his relatives.

  10. Aloof Party! Party! (adjective) At a distance; unfriendly Peter was usually aloof, so people stopped inviting him to parties. Party! No New Msgs

  11. Pliant (adjective) Flexible The vines of that plant are long and pliant; woven together they might make good rope. + Potential =
