  1. Welcome to Mrs. Edwards’ Class! I am happy to be teaching your children this year! Please feel free to write a “love note” to leave on your child’s desk for tomorrow morning. You should find a pencil or pen in his/her pencil bag.

  4. Do everything you can to help yourself and others learn! Follow ALL directions the first time they are given. Respect the rights and property of others. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself. Do your BEST!

  5. I will . . . … be kind. … listen and follow directions at all times. … stay on task. (Do what I should do when I should do it.) … be polite (don’t interrupt or disturb). … organize and care for supplies. … accept responsibility for my own behavior. … respect other people’s rights and property. … help others when I can.

  6. Attendance Tardy bell rings at 8:00 a.m. Tracked in Skyward. Being late and leaving early affect your child. Tracked in Skyward. Illness: DO NOT send your child to school sick! Fever of 101o within 24 hours – STAY HOME! Vomiting or diarrhea – STAY HOME!

  7. Medicines Please be aware that ALL medicines, EVEN COUGH DROPS, must be administered by the school nurse, Mrs. Crosby. Send them to her with a note.

  8. Allergies • Kindly be aware of allergies. Remind your children not to offer their food to others because of possible allergic reactions. • Scents: I am allergic to anything scented (flowers, hand sanitizer, lotions, etc.). Please refrain from having your child use scented products.

  9. Conduct Folders Weekly conduct and work habits marks (Please note that the grades recorded are for the PRIOR week.) Graded papers Newsletters and other school information PLEASE CHECK WEEKLY TO KEEP UP WITH YOUR CHILD’S PERFORMANCE AND ANY UPCOMING EVENTS.

  10. Conduct and Work Habits Students begin each six weeks with an E in both conduct and work habits. Conduct folders will show number of marks earned each week. No weekly grade. 5 minutes out daily for each conduct mark. Zero conduct marks in a grading period = Conduct Bash!

  11. Homework will go home Monday and will be due Friday. No homework: Work habits mark Please send homework folder daily for any extra notes during the week. Emphasis on spelling, handwriting, math facts Home readers will be sent weekly. Homework

  12. Grading and Reporting Skyward updated weekly. Go to www.pearlandisd.org to access. Graded papers in Tuesday folders Progress reports and report cards DO NOT BE SURPRISED by progress report or report card grades. If you are concerned about your child’s grades, you need to check this regularly.

  13. Progress Reports & Report Cards • “Nine-week” grading periods • Progress reports: MA means missing assignment and equals a zero. * means grade has not yet been entered. • Report cards are generally sent home with the student the week after the grading period ends.

  14. Tutoring Tutoring is by invitation. It will be offered Tue. at 3:15 p.m. and Thurs. at 7:15 a.m.

  15. Late Work Students will have opportunities to finish work most afternoons. If it is not completed during the week assigned, I will send a note home requesting that your child come to school the following Wednesday at 7:15. This will also be the morning students can come if they need extra help with something.

  16. Keeping Up The Peek at the Week will be updated each Friday on my school web page. A hard copy will be sent home each Monday with the homework. The Peek informs of you what is being taught each week and includes timely reminders.

  17. Web Page To access my web page, go to the school website and find my name under the grade levels tab. The page includes our class schedule, the Peek, homework advice, resources, Skyward access, news, a classroom wishlist, and other helpful information.

  18. Please DO Feed the Kiddoes Breakfast is incredibly important! If your child is running late, please send her to school with something to eat (banana, toast, apple). Breakfast is also served in the café each morning.

  19. Growth Through Service This year, students in my class will have an opportunity one Saturday each month to participate in a service project. Children will learn about one another, our community, and themselves through these efforts! All participants MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

  20. Parties Winter party, Valentine party, End of year party NO birthday parties at school! No balloons, gifts, etc. Birthday treats may be shared at recess only. Individual servings only, please.
