  3. Halloween began… • From ancient new year festivals and festivals of the dead. • After Christianity began, all Saints Day was made day known as Halloween.

  4. Halloween symbols • Costumes, and Jack-O-Lanterns • ghost, and witches.

  5. How is it celebrated • Children dress in costumes • Go trick or treating • Bob for apples • Go see fortune tellers, • Go to parties. • Ireland -carve beets, potatoes, turnips for lanterns • Scotland – parade • England –bobbing for apples in a tub of water. • U.S- go trick or treating and costumes
