  18. Larry A. Ryle High School Senior Exit Project The Senior Exit Project is a graduation requirement. Specific components of the Project will be communicated to each senior class at the beginning of the second semester of their senior year. Examples of the Senior Project may include the following: Written Letter of Application to Graduate Submission of a Professional Resume Defend Your Qualifications to Graduate Present Your Senior Writing Portfolio Defend a Service Project for the School and/or Community Develop a Brochure for Incoming Freshman Present a Comprehensive Plan for the Next Ten Years Based on Your Strengths, Goals, etc. Other ideas are welcome and encouraged, however they must receive prior approval from the administration. A Screening Committee composed of an Administrator, a Teacher, a Community Representative, a Parent/Guardian and an ad hoc member of your choice will evaluate your Senior Project. A Satisfactory evaluation from the Screening Committee is required to graduate. BACK

Voluntary Tutoring - located in Media Center with teachers and RAP student tutors. Any student may go during RAP time by following proper procedure 3. Mandatory Tutoring- located in specific rooms with teachers and RAP student tutors available to assist. This requires a schedule change in IC. A student will be able to enter/exit at the 3/6/9 week mark of each grading period. BACK

Ryle High School Attendance Policies SCHOOL TARDIES A school tardy is defined as a student not being in their assigned seminar class by the beginning of the school day (7:40 a.m. on a regular school day). A student that is late to their seminar class must report to the front office/attendance desk to receive an excused/unexcused admit slip. Once school has begun, students tardy to school must enter the building through the main office and sign-in to receive an excused/unexcused admit slip. Students may receive three (3) excused tardies to school per semester with a parent note. The administration reserves the right to decide upon the validity of the tardiness. Unexcused tardiness to school will be handled by semester according to the following guidelines: 1st tardy to school verbal warning 2nd tardy to school Parent phone call 3rd tardy to school school detention 4th tardy to school referral to administration for FASP 5th or more tardy FASP and loss of driving privileges BACK

  26. Larry A. Ryle High School Hierarchy of Consequences Disruptive Behavior Anything which impedes the normal educational process. The first two offenses within the classroom shall be handled by the individual teacher. 1st Offense: Written warning; Teacher’s detention. 2nd Offense: Teacher’s detention; Parent notification. 3rd Offense: 3 days after-school detention; Parent notification. 4th Offense: Friday After School Program (FASP) for 1 day. 5th Offense: Principal’s discretion; Parent conference.   27. Larry A. Ryle High School Academic Support Process PURPOSE To provide a whole school response to struggling students. To increase communication between all stakeholders. To provide needed assistance to students who need additional time/support for learning. To reduce the number of failing students. To reduce the number of students who are retained.

Ryle High School Academic Support Process • What do we want students to learn? • How will we know if students have learned it? • What will we do if they don’t learn it? • What will we do if they already know it? Introduction: This is a support process that is on a continuum to monitor student progress at intervals of every three weeks. At every three week period, school personnel will evaluate student progress and begin the process of intervention according to the student’s place on the continuum. When a student moves from failing to passing the intervention begins at the beginning stages. The intervention takes place during our Raider Achievement Program Time (R.A.P.).

  29. Larry A. Ryle High School Academic Support Process II. Three week mark of grading period Teachers Expectation- Communicate personally with student. Teacher makes parent contact (phone, email or letter) and recommends tutoring in R.A.P. designated room. Teacher may recommend mandatory tutoring during R.A.P if they deem it necessary at this time. Teacher records contact and referral in Infinite Campus. (If recommending mandatory, teacher must also fill out triplicate form to be turned into appropriate administrator.) Administration Expectation- Guidance Secretary will provide list of all students who are failing at this progress report interval to the appropriate administrator. Voluntary tutoring teachers will maintain an attendance folder for use by administrators upon request. At the end of each week, the voluntary tutoring teachers will forward an electronic attendance list of students who have attended the R.A.P voluntary tutoring to the administrator in charge of program (Mr. Niemi).
