Values Education is now an important part of school curriculum. “Australia’s future depends upon each citizen having the necessary knowledge understanding, skills and values for a productive and rewarding life in an educated, just and open society.”Australian Govt Vision for Values Education National goals include the goal that students when they leave school, should: have qualities of self-confidence, optimism, high self esteem and a commitment to personal excellence as a basis for their potential life roles as family, community and workforce members.

  4. Nine values for Australian schoolingfrom the National Framework for Values education in Australian Schools ‘No Limits’program ……. • assimilates having a high value & respect for self & others 1. Care & Compassion for self and others • Incorporates C.A.N.I. = • “Constant And Never-ending • Improvement” 2. Doing your Best and pursue excellence • Teaches loyalty in valuing • everyone’s contribution 3. Fair Go & protect common good • Works with ‘no rules’ but a group written agreement using principles of Respect & Commitment 4. Freedom

  5. ‘ No Limits’program…. 5.Honesty & Trustworthiness • teaches reliability & trust, using • experiences in group setting • initiates being the best you can be whether others’ are watching or not 6. Integrity 7. Respect • is very focused on respecting • selves, others & environment • teaches “Responding-with- ability” & consequences for your actions 8. Responsibility 9. Understanding, tolerance and inclusion • incorporates empathy, accept differences in culture, actively • include others & forgive.

  6. ‘ No Limits’ Program Purpose To integrate long term positive life values and ‘work ethics’ in students, to be productive members in their schools and communities. Target Group: Students 15yrs + who are at-risk for a wide variety of reasons.

  7. Program Objectives: • ongoing weekly support • trusting environment • enhance self esteem • face challenges successfully • work together in groups • communication • accountability • leadership skills • goal setting

  8. The method used for‘ No Limits’: • approx 1 hour class time per week for2-3 school terms • action-based & self-discovery Learning • outdoor activities • students commit to participate • school staff assess who may benefit from this program • permission from the students parents • group/individual problem solving • teach them to teach their friends
