  3. Latha Palaniappan, M.D., M.S. Dr. Palaniappan is an Associate Investigator at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation Research Institute (PAMFRI), Adjunct Associate Professor at the Stanford University School of Medicine, and Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of California San Francisco. She is also a graduate of Stanford's Clinical Epidemiology Masters program, funded by the Clinical Research Curriculum Award (K30). She is board certified in general internal medicine, augmented by further clinical training in Preventive Cardiology. Dr. Palaniappan has completed over thirty studies in the areas of obesity, insulin resistance, and cardiovascular risk. She has received grants from the General Clinical Research Center at the University of Michigan, the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, the National Institutes of Health, the American Heart Association, and the National Institutes of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases to explore gender and racial/ethnic differences in insulin metabolism as it affects the incidence of metabolic syndrome, diabetes, and coronary heart disease. She continues to devote a portion of her time to clinical work in Internal Medicine.

  4. Ariel Holland, B.A Ariel Holland, B.A., is a Research Associate in the Health Policy Research department at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation Research Institute. Ms. Holland graduated with a bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Virginia, with a minor in Biology. She has previous experience working with vital statistics data and researching the health of Asian Americans. She has co-authored two book chapters on cardiovascular disease in Asian Americans with Dr. Palaniappan to be published in 2012. Ms. Holland assists with data analysis, manuscript development, and project support.
