  1. Be a Good ListenerSinapiSeed ChurchFamily Message, 6/27/2010 “This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger” James 1:19 NASB

  2. Be a Good Listener (2) James, the brotherof our Lord Jesus, exhorts the churches to live by the teaching of God, not merely know it. He pleaded to the believers of the churches to act on the Word of God in full faith. O LORD, we praise You for giving us another week of worship at Sinapi together. Please teach and encourage us on how live a better Christian live, to act on your Word in addition to believing in You by faith: teach us how to Be a Good Listener. In Jesus we pray. Amen. Let us look read two verses from James 1.

  3. Be a Good Listener (3) Scripture: James 1 1:19 This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; 1:20 for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.

  4. Be a Good Listener (4) Today I will talk about James: 1:19 in particular. James felt a strong need to plead to brothers and sisters at the Jerusalem churches to listen to each other tentatively and refrain from getting angry and speaking too loosely. 1:19This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger;

  5. Be a Good Listener (5) Difficulties and Worries

  6. Be a Good Listener (6) Difficulties and Worries When we feel sad, we want someone to listen to us. Sometimes our brothers and sisters have challenges in their lives—God wants us to listen to them, give them attention, be sensitive in how we talk to them. The most important part: listen patiently and do not be frustrated and become angry. Sometimes our brothers and sisters need more time to tell us their difficulties and worries. “Thisyou know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger”

  7. Be a Good Listener (7) Unspeakable Burdens

  8. Be a Good Listener (8) Unspeakable Burdens Sometimes our brothers and sisters go through unspeakable burdens. They need us to listen. If we have some good advice to offer to them, God wants us to offer to them slowly and without getting angry. We need to remember when we face a lot of burdens, we cannot talk or think clearly—we want others to help us see our blind spots. James says we must listen before we speak. “Thisyou know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger”

  9. Be a Good Listener (9) I encourage everyone to mediate, to think about, this verse this week: “This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger” LORD. We praise You for James, the brother of our Lord, the leader of ancient Jerusalem churches, for pleading earnestly to all churches to walk as a follower of Christ. In Jesus we pray. Amen.
