Food Service Management - RFP • School Districts that contract for Food Service operations are required to request proposals at least every three years. • The RFP process follows strict guidelines established by the MDE Food and Nutrition Department and USDA • Proposals were due Monday, May 2, 2011. This followed a mandatory pre-proposal conference that was held on April 11, 2011

Food Service Management - RFP • Pre-proposal meeting included representatives from 5 Food Service Management Companies of which 4 provided proposals • Aviands Proposal received • Taher Proposal received • Sodexo Proposal received • Lunchtime Solutions No Proposal • Chartwells Proposal received

Food Service Management - RFP • Evaluation Committee: • Linda Laurie, Board Member • Dr. Mike Funk, Superintendent • Lori Volz, Director of Finance & Operations • Mary Nelson, Director of Food Service (Mary’s role was to organize the data and provide input) • The scoring consists of points for their financial price per meal as well as non price criteria.

Food Service Management - RFP • Results from the required point calculator – • Maximum points: 100 • Highest points received wins contract • Chartwells: 84.14 • Aviands: 84.00 • Sodexo: 79.59 • Taher: 79.05 • Contract is awarded to Chartwells based on MDE approved point calculator, pending MDE approval.

  6. Food Service Management - RFP • Key points in the proposal review – • Chartwells offers a financial return of $109,076.43. Chartwells will pay the difference between the actual profit and the guaranteed amount up to $50,000. • Chartwells proposal offers a $86,500 investment in equipment to be paid over three years interest free. • Chartwells has great experience with districts our size. • Chartwells offers great food offerings at every level. • Chartwells pricing for subsequent years follows proposal specification that cost would not increase by more than CPI.
