A French Game by Bernard Tavitian released in 2000

  • Formal Elements

  • 2-4 Players try to arrange their colored pieces across the board in order to take up as much space as possible

  • Players start from their respective corners

  • Pieces can only be placed diagonally from another piece of the same color

  • When a player cannot place a piece, they lose

  • Player with the pieces equaling the smallest area at the end of the game wins

Offensive Strategy

Red is weaving around the board

Defensive Strategy

Green is building a “fortress”

Dynamic Elements

To play to win or to play to make others lose?

Alliances come and go

Tensions build as plans are ruined

Plan ahead for future moves

Narrative Elements

Manifest Destiny

Board goes from blank space

|

|

V

To an all out battlefield to claim these spaces

The Best Strategy?

From the Beginning, try to branch out to the center of the board, using your largest pieces first

Did we like it?

Yes

It’s fun, it’s strategic, and it gets our blood pumping when we decide to foil someone else’s plans, or have our own plans destroyed
