  9. SOLUTIONS • Renovating and opening a new combined facility in Powell River to capitalize on opportunities. • High risk project with huge rewards. • Allows HSRSS to expand provincially/ nationally • Opens HSRSS to new funding opportunities

Objectives • To provide individuals with fully assisted and semi independent housing in the Powell River community • Provide one on one support services to individuals with physical and mental disabilities in the Powell River community • To create a long term, multi faceted centre in Powell River offering assistance both to individuals and families with disabilities.

  11. SCOPE STATEMENT • To develop and open a new combined Assisted Independent Living Program (AIL) and Supported Independent Living (SIL) facility in Powell River for Howe Sound Rehabilitation Services Society (HSRSS) by September 2011.

SMART Goals • To create a project plan • December 2010 • To get full $1,200,000 funding • February 2011 • To recruit staff for centre, ready for training • June 2011 • Assist HSRSS with client procurement • Centre to be sold out July 2011 • To renovate AIL and SIL Powell River facility • August 2011 • To open the doors to the facility and move in clients • September 2011

  13. SOURCES OF FUNDING • Community Living British Columbia • Fraser Health Authority • Private and Business Donors in the Powell River area. We estimate a $1,200,000 million dollars for the completed buildings, equipment and opening costs for a 30 room dual use facility, Contingency funding contracts (15%)

  15. Constraints • Regulatory bodies and legal proceedings that stall or slow the project process. • Training and development of staff • Procurement of funding • The distance of the site • Finding qualified staff and knowledgeable contractors in a more rural setting

  16. Risk Assessment • Facility not built in time • Lack of funding to complete the project • Lack of qualified employees in Powell River • The possibility of not collecting contracts for clients in time (Listed from most risk to least risk)

Contingency Plan • If funding cannot be procured in full from government sources ensure loans in place prior to project launch. • Secondary temporary location developed in the event that we are more than 1 month behind schedule at the end of July 2011. • Plan for increased awareness about job opportunities through various websites as well as temporary placement options for current HSRSS employees (transfers).

  18. Follow up with Customers HSRSS with the help of patients will be working closely to assess the quality of the new Howe Sound AIL/SIL facility in Powell River once it’s complete in September 2011. Feedback through one-one interviews, surveys and group interviews
