  2. The Joshua Tree Principle Story

  3. The Four Basic Principles • Contrast • Repetition • Alignment • Proximity • Or in other words, what’s with all this C.R.A.P.

  4. Contrast • Avoid elements on the page that are merely similar • If not the same, make them very different • Type, color, size, line thickness, shape, space, etc • Often the most important visual attraction

  5. Repetition • Repeat visual elements on the page • Repeat: • Color, shape, texture, spatial relationships, line thicknesses, sizes • This is a huge help for organization • Strengthens unity

  6. Alignment • Nothing is on the page arbitrarily • Every element has some visual connection to something else • Create a clean, sophisticated look

  7. Proximity • Items related to each other should be grouped together • This creates one visual unit • Organizes information, reduces clutter

  8. Your Task 1stComplete your assigned C.R.A.P. Worksheet. • All answers can be found in The Non-Designer’s Design Book by Robin Williams 2nd With your group, create a poster using MS Publisher that will explain your C.R.A.P Principle. Provide an example of the principle. NO! Not this guy!
