  6. Meeting NDA OPRG Held meeting with members of NDA Older People’s Reference group – March 2009 Presented work to date – possible research tools for use by those involved in research.

  7. Research Tools • Possible research tools included • Diary to record times when using toilets away from home and to record ‘state’ of public toilets • Mapping to identify where in areas toilets were located. Tools rejected by potential users as being impractical

  8. Research participants Original proposal aimed at recruiting older users to project (aged 50+) OPRG suggested extending age range to include transgenerational need for public toilet facilities. Developed ‘lifecourse’ methodology based around epidemiological studies.

  10. NDA OPRG next encounter • Currently completing 2nd phase of research with toilet providers • Return to consultation with OPRG (May 2011) • Identify further areas for inclusion (case studies ie Lewisham)
