  1. 2013 IECD Accomplishments

  2. Disability Events and Observances • Facilitated/implemented the conduct of activities for the 11disability events and observances. It includes, among others the following: (1) Launching of PWD Friendly Pedestrian Crossing; (2) Trainors’ Training for WWD on Disaster Preparedness and Management; (3) “Women Talk”; (4) Freedom Walk’; (5) International Day for the Eradication of Poverty; and (6) Forum on Overcoming Extreme Poverty of Persons with Disabilities

  3. Forum on disability-related policies and programs • Facilitated and/or served as resource persons and/or participated to 34 forums/orientations /workshops/ trainings on various disability-relevant topics and involving various sectors of society Three (3)additional forums will be conducted on the dates specified hereof as follows: (1) Forum on Current Trends, Issues and Developments on Special Education, November 22, MCU Caloocan; (2) Forum on Accessible Tourism for Persons with Disabilities, November 26, Bohol Province”; and (3) Provincial Forum on Disability Rights Promotion, November 28, Bulacan Province

  4. Disability section in public schools and/or libraries • Facilitated the establishment of disability sections in 5 schools (3 in Luzon and 2 in Visayas) A section will be launched in December for Quezon City Public Library Project 8 Branch • Provided various information materials to the 24 existing disability sections established by NCDA

  5. Multi-Media and Photo Exhibits • Mounted and staged/participated in 7 various exhibits spearheaded by NCDA and other agencies. (These include the participation of NCDA to the “KABISIG” exhibit and its partnership with PCOO featuring the 10 goals of the Incheon Strategy framework.) • Two (2) photo exhibits will be mounted on November 28-December 1 at the Bayview Hotel for the “Access 2020, Race to Success”’event and at the First PWD IDEAS Day on December 7 at the Cuneta Astrodome in PasayCity

  6. IEC promotional materials and publications • Produced/published the following publications/IEC materials: (1) Reprint of pamphlet on R.A. No. 7277 (2) Hand-out/flyer on R.A. No. 10524; (2) Hand-out/flyer on R.A. No. 10366; (3) Hand-out/flyer on Disability Disaster Kit; (4) Hand-out/flyer on NCDA; and (5) NCDA’s 2012 Accomplishment Report • Produced/distributed 3 kinds of advocacy/corporate giveaways/tokens

  7. Publicity and promotional support to the activities of the Council and partner-agencies • Conducted a press conference/forum to launch the “Disability Inclusive Election 2016” • Provided photography and video coverages of disability events and activities • Uploaded news releases for the “NCDA Blog” Facebook page and Website • Acted as resouce persons/guest in radio and television programs • Prepared broadcast/press releases on disability events and observances

  8. Library Services • Assisted 874 researchers conducting research studies on disability topics/subjects • Distributed 3,174 pieces of various publications • Acquired/purchased 12 new books of different titles • Encoded 265 entries to the eCatalogue System • Monitored and clipped 229 disability-relevant stories, including NCDA syndicated press releases on different newspapers and magazines

  9. Photography and Audio-Visual Services • Facilitated coverages and documentation of year-round disability events/observances, official functions and other activities • Reproduced copies of the same in CD/DVD formats for distribution to media and stakeholders/end-users

  10. Sub-Committees on Education and Advocacy • Facilitated the conduct of Communication Planning Workshop on Disability in Subic, Zambales on March 18 & 19, 2013 • Recommended a resolution to the NCDA Governing Board to adopt the NCDA Communication Plan on Incheon Goals • Facilitated the inclusion of disability inclusive concepts/reasonable accommodation on the CHED proposed enhanced policies and guidelines on student services program for HEIs • Participated in the brainstorming and development of monitoring instrument for the CHED’s MC9, s.2013 on the enhanced guidelines on student services and counselling manual

  11. RPC Work and Coordination for NCR and ARMM • Attendance to RCDA and other related meetings (e.g. Courtesy Call meeting of the officers and members of the Manila Chapter of the Epilepsy Awareness and Advocacy, Inc.) • Facilitated the conduct of NCR-Based Organizational meeting of District Access Monitoring Teams • Monitoring of PWDs’ Participation in the May 2013/Mid Term Election and Accessible Polling Places • Attendance to various meetings addressing different concerns of NCR- and ARMM-based PWDs and concerns • Referrals of walk-in and letter-sender PWDs; prepared endorsement letters seeking assistance from the Council

  12. Other Assignments/Accomplishments • Distributed 200+ white canes to students with visual impairments currently enrolled in 60 SPED Centers located in Negros Oriental, Dumaguete City, Quezon Province, Leyte, Tarlac, Laguna, Quezon City, Valenzuela City, Caloocan City, Paranaque City, Sta Ana Manila, and Cebu City • Attendance to Partners Meetings for the Fully Abled Nation (F.A.N.) Advocacy Program • Provision of sign language interpreters for Deaf persons during court hearings and other programs and activities • Publication of the full text of R.A. No. 10366 in Manila Bulletin on June 11, page 3 (National News) • Prepared the Council’s 2013 report on “Gender and Development” as required by the DBM

  13. Other assignments/accomplishments Participated/attended the following official functions: • CWC’s “Multi-Sectoral Consultation Workshop on Missing Children and series of advocacy communication planning and message development workshops for the 2nd National Plan of Action for Children • Seminar-Workshop on the Development of the Philippine Results-Based Monitoring and Evaluation Framework on Disability • Brainstorming Meetings on the Steps to Establish a Sign Language System in the Philippines • Orientation Workshop on Disability Inclusive Legislation
