  1. SELECTIVE EATING DISORDER- CONTACT ELLERN MEDE

  2. WHAT IS SELECTIVE EATING DISORDER? For an individual with SED, there are many things they don’t eat, and only very few things that they do. Most things that other people eat with pleasure are things that they’d never put into their mouths – not just because they don’t like them, but because they can’t. They’d have to force themselves to do it if they wanted to, and even then, it’s questionable whether it’d work out or not. Often, whether they’re able to eat a particular food depends on the texture or flavour of the food, sometimes it might be the colour.

  3. WHAT ARE THE EFFECTS OF SELECTIVE EATING DISORDER? The person may suffer from malnutrition with consequent physical problems such as digestive problems, electrolyte imbalances, low blood pressure and a slower heart rate.

  4. TREATMENT If you feel that you may have a selective eating disorder, you should start receiving treatment right away. It begins with seeking the services of a general practitioner (GP) who’ll diagnose the condition accurately and outline any medical problems accompanying it. Issues such as depression, anxiety, or substance abuse can be some of the areas needing treatment. The GP may then recommend the best treatment for your particular situation – anything from nutritional counselling to psychotherapy, residential treatment, or support groups.
