  2. About Binge Eating Disorder Binge eating disorder is a serious health problem, but people with binge eating disorder can get better with treatment. Binge eating disorder is a type of eating disorder. Eating disorders are mental health problems that cause extreme and dangerous eating behaviors. These extreme eating behaviors cause other serious health problems and sometimes death. Some eating disorders also involve extreme exercise. People with binge-eating disorder (BED) often feel ashamed and embarrassed by their eating issues, and may attempt to conceal their symptoms. Binge eating usually occurs in secrecy, or at least as inconspicuously as possible. After a binge eating episode, people with this disorder often feel depressed and ashamed of themselves.
