Proposal- March 2006
Swami Vivekananda Educational Society (Regd.) was started in 1970 by a group of dedicated volunteers with the aim to provide education, especially, to the poor and under-privileged in tune with the ideal of education set forth by Swami Vivekananda. The objectives are to
a) impart basic education from the primary level
b) to inculcate scientific temper in the backdrop of our culture
c) to include such subjects and training which will help in employment
d) towards a holistic education that is values based and moulds character
This school was brought to our attention by Mr. M.K. Srinath and Hema Srinath in 1996. Asha Az has funded this school since 1997 and has approved seven proposals for a total of $12,500.00
Our funds have mainly been used for science lab supplies, mid day meal program, library and classroom and office furniture
Annapoorna Scheme – A very much needed midday meal scheme
Annapoorna scheme is playing a very important role in the education of the children. It has improved attendance and academic performance of the students. At present we are able to cover only about 140 students. We wish to cover about 200 students.
The total requirements of the funds for this would be $4500 (at the rate of $20 per day for 25 days for 9 months)
1. Asha Az$ 2000/-
2. Gita Satsanga Samithi$ 500/-
3.donations from well wishers of the society$ 2000/-
Staff Betterment fund ( not batterment funds!)
Though the school has been accepted for grant-in-aid, the grant-in-aid is applicable only to the High school Kannada medium sections, covering only 13 teachers and non teaching staff.
6 teachers in High School
1 non teaching staff in High School
16 teachers in Primary / Nursery
3 non teaching staff in Primary / Nursery
Total funds needed 14 lacs. We request $1000.00 to supplement the funds we are collecting from local sources.
