  2. Erosion 5-3.1  Explain how natural   processes affect Earth’s oceans and land in constructive and deconstructive ways. More information on Erosion

  3. photographs of erosion now this, all broken up More information on Erosion was this now ………...

  4. How is Erosion Constructive and Destructive    Constructive      Carries soil to a new place for plants. Weathered rocks are moved away. Destructive   Deforestation, overgrazing and road building often expose soil and sediments and lead to increase erosion. Find out how to prevent erosion

  5. Prevent Erosion Vegetation is a key factor when it comes to erosion prevention particularly on steep slopes, retaining native trees, shrubs, and grass on a site that is being developed can greatly reduce future erosion, damage and offset the cost of preserving them. 7. Landslides Landslides are caused by  earthquakes, mining, heavy rainfall, and clear cutting.Landslides can cause property damage, injury and death. This is a landslide that happened in Arkansas in 2008. This landslide happen in Colorado on Monday. Dwayne Johnson shield his daughter Gracie Johnson when it happen. Only did Gracie loose her father she also lost her mother, two cousins, and her 10 year old brother. Click for famous landslides.

  8. Landslides!!! Falling or sliding of a mass of soil, detritus,or rock on or from a steep slope. Photo of the 2005 La Conchita Landslide The 1993 landslide at Holbeck Hall, North Yorkshire. • This is a picture of a landslide in San Juan Mountains of Colorado. More information on landslides

  9. LANDSLIDES Destructive A Landslide is deconstructive in many ways one way it moves all of the trees and everything it’s way and takes  it somewhere . Constructive A Landslide is also constructive it takes soil and other nutrients to other places and makes room for new plants. Linked citation goes here Safety Procedures

  10. Safety Procedures Be aware of landslide[s] in your area. Recognize landslide signs before they happen in the area. [After one]New Cracks appear in your streets and sidewalks. Sources

  12. Hurricanes 5-3.1Hurricanes can be destructive and constructive. They can destroy buildings. Hurricanes can use their wind to blow common dirt to areas that are in need of it. Procedures

  13. PROCEDURES • Before getting in your safe area, get at least 3 gallons of water, battery-operated radio, first aid kit, and a flashlight. • Important Documents (if you can.) • GO TO YOUR SAFE AREA, AND PREPARE!!!! • With Hurricanes being as powerful as they are, they can cause damage and destruction Constructive/Destructive

  14. Constructive and Destructive Hurricanes are destructive, because it destroy people homes and jobs. It also destroys childhood memories that has already passed like a trophy you won in first grade, or pictures from the past. It is constructive because once old trees have been knocked down constructers plant more trees and plants. Its also constructive because it carried dirt and water to places that needs it. Famous Hurricanes

  15. Famous Hurricanes The Great Galveston Texas Hurricane Disaster, The Gulf /South Texas Hurricane of 1919, The Great Miami Hurricane, The Lake OcheechobeeFlordia Catastrophe, The Great Flordia Keys Labor Day Storm The caption above is showing The Great Gavelston Texas Hurricane Disaster. 17. WEATHERING Weathering Snow Rain How to keep structures from weathering Sun Hail

  18. keep structures from weathering ON HOMES,PORCHES and other strucstures, weathering occurs to most types of building materials that are exposed to rain ,snow, and, hot and cold tempertures every year.certain types of weather  more than others and requier  more attention and care than others to prevent weathering. Next

  19. How Weathering is Constructive and Destructive The features of earth include landforms. These incculdemountains, valleys, islands ,and many others.Processes that form landforms or add new rocks is called the constructive process. In the destructive process rocks and landforms are destroyed. The destructive process wears down the Earth’s surface. The constructive process builds upthe Earth’s surface. Sources

  20. Sources!!! sources that we use are google, readingbooks, and libraries one main source that people use is google sources help us find information and research some people use sources to do projects sources are a great thing Linked citation goes here Return to Exhibit

  22. Earthquakes Constructive: ~Earthquake may sometimes create new coastal plains, by the emergence of a portion of ocean floor. ~Submergence of coastal land may result in formation of bays and gulfs. ~Earthquakes result in the formation of hot springs and geyser beneficial for medicinal purposes Deconstructive: ~They shake the ground causing everything to fall down. ~ People also die during Earthquakes ~Houses get crushed and then they fall to the ground. 23. Safety Procedures • .If driving, stop quickly but safely and stay in the vehicle. Do not stop near power lines, bridges, overpasses, or other potentially dangerous locations • If outdoors, stay in open areas away from buildings, power lines, trees, and other potential hazards. • Immediately seek a safe location such as in a doorway beneath a table or desk, or along an interior wall away from windows or hazardous objects. • Be prepared with supplies for a certain areas. • Cover the back of your head and your eyes to minimize injury from flying debris. • Stay calm and brace yourself to keep your balance, sitting if possible Linked citation goes here Famous Earthquakes

  24. Famous earthquakes At 3:23 pm., on May 31, 1970, an earthquake jolted the South American country of Peru. Enormous damage occurred in Peru's coastal department of Ancash. In the city of Huaraz, as many as 20,000 people died in the crumbling buildings At 5:12 am, on April 18, underground rocks broke along the San Andreas Fault just ten miles from San Francisco. A loud roar could be heard as the earth shook for a minute, toppling buildings. Within 15 minutes, dozens of fires were raging in downtown San Francisco. Sources

  27. Famous Volcanoes Pictures of Volcanoes ERUPTING!!!!! Safety Procedures

  28. Safety Procedures Before A Volcano • Put goggles and disposable breathing masks for each family member in your disaster supply kit • If you live near a known volcano, active or dormant, learn about your community warning systems and emergency plans, and be ready to evacuate at a moment’s notice • Stay away from active volcanoes • Have an emergency disaster plan for you and your family Sources
