  1. Georgian College Parking Complex Proposal By: ShayanChoudhuri, Joseph Johnson, Katie Wilton, Kyle Barrett, SetawutSouvanlasy

  2. Overview • Why choose GIB contracting firm • The problem • Expansion • Environmental Advantage • Security and access • Location & Layout • Budgeting • Conclusion

  3. Why choose GIB? • Established in 1989 with 8 original employees and 2 managers • Proper business ethics and our constant standards of excellence • Beginning growth days focused on apartment buildings and offices • Today we have just fewer than 100 employees and 10 managers • Built parking complexes for many important companies • (i.eRoyal Bank, Google, HSBC and Fanshawe College in London.) • Choosing Get it Built leaves you with the security of completion by negotiated date and the reassurance that what you’re paying for is actually what you are getting

  4. The Problem • The Barrie campus has overlooked another student need; adequate parking. • Georgian’s parking needs are skyrocketing • No surrounding land to build more parking lot’s • Increasing growth rate every year More students = More cars = More parking

  5. Expansion • New health and wellness building will accommodate 1,800 students • 10 new programs will be added • Georgian College expects a 16.3% increase in enrolment • 400 new parking spaces have been added • Georgian currently has 2,154 parking spaces • New walk-in clinic could bring 50 + vehicles

  6. Environmental Advantage • Prefers to use building materials that are easy to refine. • Eco friendly Materials are readily available to us, no excuse to not build with them. • We will only use paint with a V.O.C lower than two, ( lower lead content). • Solar panels will absorb energy from the sun during the day to power the interior lights for the evening.

  7. Security and easy of access • The complex will follow suit with the Blue emergency buttons, one will be located on each floor. • The security guards will patrol during the night to make sure that everything is safe and there are no unwanted intruders. • The complex will have multiple entrances and exits to allow easy flow of traffic and least amount of congestion as possible.

  8. Location • The outside dimensions of the complex are estimated at 210’ x 302.’ • The best location regarding total space available would be parking lots 1 and 14 outside of “B” and “K” buildings respectively. • Location is big enough to accommodate the complex and is also within comfortable walking distance to the main buildings of the college.

  9. Layout • The proposed size for the parking complex is 190,260 ft2on 3 floors with a total of 684 additional parking spaces. • Of the 63,420 ft2 available on each of the 3 floors 37,905 ft2 is needed for the 228 parking spaces. • This leaves only 25,515 ft2 for laneways, supporting structures and entrances/exits.

  10. Budgeting

  11. Conclusion • The issue: • Limited parking space • Expensive parking passes • Narrow lane ways • Parking fines • Road rage • Get It Built Recommendations: • Build an efficient modernly designed parking complex • Provide cheaper daily, monthly & semester parking passes • Enhanced roadways • Using green technology such as solar and wind power
