  2. Linking the unit circle with Trigonometric functions • 3 types of functions looked at in year 11 • Sine • Cosine • Tangent • How many of us show students that sincos and tan are more than just buttons on a calculator?

  3. So…..Where does the pasta come in?!?!

  4. Materials required • Couple of packets of budget spaghetti • A3 or A4 Paper • Glue or Sellotape • A little time to prepare • A small class of students (yeah right!)

  5. Hypotenuse (radius) Sine – uses the y components (opposite) θ Cosine – uses the x components (adjacent)

  6. Going off on a tangent…. • Extend your students by looking at the tangent function • Don’t use the pasta as an asymptote ;)
