  1. We have about a ton of builders sand left over from a job and want to know is this safe to mix with compost for planting purposes?

  2. This morning I had two large ‘visitors’ (about 3inches long) and a smaller one on what I call our Spanish flag plant or what is left of it. They were bright yellow with a small blue continuous triangle along its lower part of their body. Where do they live as this is the first time that I have seen them, but alas not the first time that my plants have been eaten. Sorry I did not take a photo, as I was so mad that they had eaten my plant, that I squashed them.

  3. Deaths Head Moth

  4. Having paid to have some soil delivered to our otherwise grey flint and rock plot, we find that once it rained the "soil" turned to CLAY. What, if anything, other than compost and/or manure, can be used to make it more manageable.     Otherwise we may have to pay yet again to have it removed !!!!! Another question is that both my nectarine and peach trees had fruit the size of a walnut several weeks ago then everything started to fall off and now the trees are both totally bare !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Also,  my cordyline (green and red) suddenly dropped all their leaves and we are left with just a "stick" but with new growth at the bottom of the STICK......     Any answers.   I think I'm doing something wrong in my garden in Spain  !!!!!!

  5. I would like more precise information on how to prune our almond trees. I know to take out the middle and crossing branches but what about the height? Some of our trees are getting a bit too tall so some guidance on that would be helpful. Similarly our apricot tree. Do you risk next year’s crop by cutting back the branches to a manageable height?

  6. I have a south facing raised bed which has grown roses very successfully for 5 years. However, this last winter, 75% of them died. Can the panel suggest any reasons? The bed is 8 metres x 0.75 metres and 0.75 metres deep against a white wall. I would appreciate suggestions for alternative plants in that situation. There is irrigation available.
