What is The gift of Tongues Acts 2:4 “began to speak with other tongues” Other = different This gift of tongues was not muttering or ecstatic noise Tongues - “The language used by a particular people in distinction from that of other nations. To speak with new tongues which the speaker has not learned previously.” [ Thayer p. 118 ]

  13. Tongues Can we have This gift The Need for tongues has passed 1 Cor. 13:9-10 Part - the stage of miracles in the church Perfect - the whole truth about God When the Bible was completed the gifts were no longer needed Ladders and scaffolding are removed when the house is finished

  15. Gift of Speaking in Tongues Not available to us today The claim to speak in tongues is not based on Bible authority The gift of tongues was another language they spoke by miraculous means. It was necessary in the beginning to spread the gospel.
