Introduction: -Introduce your definition of the tragic hero - Introduce Hero 1 – brief summary of them, their story - Introduce Hero 2 – brief summary of them, their story - Link them both as a tragic hero -“Thesis”-like statement – tragic heroes can differ despite shared characteristics *Anytime you use INFORMATION from a source (you need THREE sources) you MUST CITE it (you need FOUR in-text citations) Body 1: Characteristic # 1 – either COMPARE or CONTRAST For example, you could talk about how they have similar personalities. Both Antigone and Oedipus cared greatly for their family…yadayadayada Body 2: Characteristic # 2 – either COMPARE or CONTRAST Body 3: Characteristic # 3 – either COMPARE or CONTRAST *Make sure you BOTH compare AND contrast over the three paragraphs Conclusion: -Tie up the fact that archetypes will always be a part of literature (connect to archetypal criticism powerpoint / first article) -Tie up the fact that form is important to literature (connect to formalistic criticism powerpoint / 2nd article – Ehow) -Maybe include your own opinion about how flaws alter your opinion of a “hero” Last page of your paper is a works cited! *Refer to the handout for reminders about paper format!
