  5. Society Mandate 2013/14 • The Trading & Investment Society was founded to facilitate intellectual development for students with an interest in finance and the financial markets. Our main aims include: • The education of our members in the areas of financial markets, corporate finance, and investment management; • Improving the employability of members through providing activities and services that encourage development; • To facilitate participation in professional and social activities that offer personal development opportunities.

Events in Semester A • Seminar Series • October 30th: Introduction to Forex and Investment Management • This presentation will cover basic knowledge regarding the foreign exchange market and investment management industry. We will provide a solid introduction so that attendees are prepared to explore the areas further. • November 15th (date tbc): Fundamental Analysis & an Introduction to Investment Banking • Here we will introduce the basic concepts of fundamental analysis, including valuation methods, industry analysis, and importantly where necessary resources can be found. Also, there will be an overview of the services provided by bulge bracket investment banks, how their businesses work, and what opportunities are available to excellent students. • Further seminars to come as confirmation is received from guest speakers. We will also be running intermediate/advanced sessions in semester B for motivated students.

  9. Events in Semester A Bloomberg Aptitude Test Opportunities What is the bat? The BAT is a global, standardized online test designed to assess a student’s abilities and a variety of comprehensive skills relevant to opportunities within the business world. • 2 hours long • 100 multiple choice questions • 8 sections - scored on 0-50 scale • Final score on a 200-800 scale • Global percentile ranking • No prep necessary • Free on campus and via e-proctoring (for Fall)

Events in Semester A • Trading Sessions • As previously mentioned, the society will be holding regular trading sessions for groups of students to apply their knowledge to real-time market situations. This can be done using real or virtual accounts. This will help traders to: • Learn the nature of the products they are interested in • Familiarise themselves with their trading platform • Practise trading techniques • Learn how to create trading strategies • These sessions will be organised relative to the number of students interested; if you would like to get involved please register your interest when contacted by the management team.
