  3. Definition Puppetry is a form of theatre or performance that involves the manipulation of puppets – inanimate objects, often resembling some type of human or animal figure, that are animated or manipulated by a human called a puppeteer. https://en.wikipedia.org

  4. A Brief Background on Puppets • Even though the word puppet comes from the Latin pupa, meaning “doll,” a puppet is not a doll, nor is it limited to being doll-like. • A puppet is brought to life with a puppeteer. The puppeteer communicates with the audience through the puppet. • In many different cultures, puppets were used in religious rituals. Today, puppets are being used to teach religion, in advertising, art, celebrations, crime prevention programs, education, entertainment, and therapy.

  5. History (1) • Some say that puppets have existed for about 30,000 years, although evidence of their existence in Egyptian society was found in the year 2,000 BC. • The story of puppets, also known as marionettes, goes back to ancient Greece. The Greeks used the concept of neuro pasta to refer to puppets, a word linked to the movement with threads. The Romans also used puppets as fun. And they're the ones who brought the puppets to Europe.

  6. History (2) The puppets take place on two continents, which are: East – The most recognized countries in this territory are India and Japan, where the shadow theatre, the thread puppets and the rod's are well known. All of them are incorporated in the popular tradition and in their culture for many years. West – Had its origin in ancient Greece, then became acquainted with the Romans who were the ones who expanded it throughout the rest of Europe. In this continent the first figures that have been found are articulated dolls of religious fact.
