  2. We will be visiting a variety of locations in the S.W. of Iceland to study Biology & Geography in action. Study area

  3. ICELAND’S UNIQUE CHARACTER IS DUE TO ITS LOCATION Iceland Plate Tectonics: World map of plates & plate margins ICELAND IS LOCATED ABOVE AN AREA WHERE TWO TECTONIC PLATES ARE MOVING APART

  4. Youngest rocks Oldest rocks Iceland is continually growing, at a rate of between 2 & 4cm a year, as magma is injected into rifts and forms new rocks.

  5. The flight to Iceland takes 3 hours

  6. When we arrive we will go straight to the Blue lagoon spa to relax after our tiring journey! You must make sure that you pack your swimmers and a towel in your hand luggage!

  7. We will be staying at the youth hostel in Reykjavik and will be eating there on our first evening!

  8. The next day we will be going on the Golden Circle Tour! A tourist trail to highlight some of the best bits of Iceland! Reykjavik

  9. On the tour you will see the only location where the Mid- Atlantic ridge is visible at Thingvellir National Park

  10. Get up close and personal with one of Iceland’s most powerful and most visited waterfalls, Gulfoss

  11. See Geysirs Erupt……….

  12. And then get home to the youth hostel in time for tea! We will be going out to a local restaurant for our meal this evening but may have some time for a swim!

  13. Next day we leave Reykjavik & travel to Vik, where we will stay for the night. On the journey we will visit waterfalls and glaciers & see spectacular basalt columns

  14. We could look for a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow and walk behind a waterfall………

  15. We will find out why the glacier is black…….

  16. See the puffins …………

  17. Go to the Beach……

  18. That night we will be staying and eating at the youth hostel in Vik

  19. Depending on the weather conditions we will then head into the Thorsmork National Park in our four wheel drive coach!

  20. We will get the chance to walk through the spectacular scenery and follow a stream down the gorge…………. Before we head back to Reykjavik for the evening
