  2. About Me • Graduate from Pikeville College (2006) • Master’s Degree in Elementary Reading and Math (2008) from Walden University • Currently Pursuing My Rank I in Instructional Administration through University of the Cumberlands • Sixth Year at PES

  4. My Mission Statement • My promise to my students and parents is to create an encouraging, nurturing, and safe atmosphere conducive to learning-one in which they anticipate coming to everyday. I pledge to establish an environment where students are fully engaged in a challenging, yet motivating, classroom where the highest of standards and expectations exist. I will instill core values such as honesty, compassion, empathy, dedication, and responsibility for learning while allowing substantial growth emotionally, mentally, and socially. I dedicate myself to assist students in becoming life-long learners who thrive for knowledge and wisdom as I continue to educate the whole-child in a community or partnership of learners.

  5. Schedule • 8:00-815 Homeroom, DOL, DOM • 8:15-9:30 Everyday Math • 9:30-9:45 Snack • 9:45-11:30 Language Arts • 11:30-12:00 AR • 12:00-12:25 Lunch • 12:25-1:40 Social Studies/Science/Lexia • 1:45-2:00 Supervised Physical Activity • 2:05-2:50 Special Class • 2:50 Dismissal

  6. General School Rules • Mesh or clear backpacks • Snack-one food item, one clear, non-carbonated drink • Fridays are Maroon and White day and hats can be worn • Gym is on Thursdays-Wear or bring tennis shoes

  7. Classroom Rules • Practice the Pride and Golden Rules. • Laugh with everyone; laugh at no one. • If you use it, put it back. • No bullying behaviors. • No tag, No talk!!

  8. Parent Expectations • Ensure child arrives on time with all materials. • Assist with homework assignments-Ask Questions!! • Help students create life-long study habits. • Have an open line of communication with me-Education is a partnership!!

  9. Homework and Tests • Parents, be sure to sign your name on cover sheet which lets me know that your child has completed all assignments. Without your signature, your child will receive a strike. • Feel free to send back to school if you have a question or need further explanation of the assignment. • If you have forgotten your textbook, log on to pearsonsuccessnet.com. • Weekly tests includea spelling test on Friday and a reading test on Thursday.

  10. 3rd Grade Expectations for Students • High Expectations for ALL students • Students ALWAYS try their best • Never say can’t • Turn in all work/homework • Be respectful

Rewards & Consequences • For every choice made or behavior exhibited, there is either a reward or consequence. • Rewards: Good-time tickets are earned and are used on the last Friday of every month for our classroom auction. You can redeem tickets for prizes, extra computer/reading time, and homework passes. • Consequences-Red light, green light

  12. Grading Scale • 93-100 A • 83-92 B • 73-82 C • 65-72 D • 64 & Below F

  13. Welcome Packets • 1st homework assignment-bring back signed forms in the same folder by Friday 
