  3. Basic Logic Gates • Introduction : The Boolean algbra is used for two logical variables i.e. 0 & 1. This algbra is used extensively digital electronics and computers. These commonly used logic circuits consist of solid state electronic circuits. Which are available as IC. Logic circuits are available for the following operations i.e. AND, OR, XOR & NOT. And two more useful version i.e. NAND and NOR operations. These circuits are also called gates. The logic gate is the basic building block in digital system. These gates operate with binary numbers. The are also called binary logic gates.

  4. NOR gate • NOR gate is one another gate which can be considered as the universal hardware building block. This gate can be considered as equal to an OR gate followed by an inverter i.e. NOT followed by OR and is called NOR. • For a NOR gate if any of the input is 1, the output is 0 and if all the inputs are 0, only then the output is 1. • The logic symbol which are used for NOR gate and the truth table of NOR gate as shown below.
