  2. A typical day at nursery…

  3. ‘Changing ends’ • Please look out for which end of nursery your child’s class will be based in using the staff noticeboard and emails. • Your child will enter via the red external door or yellow external door on a 3 week cycle. The class mosaic (sunshines or rainbows) will be next to the external doors to remind you.

  4. Your child’s safety • The red and yellow external doors are only to be used during pick up or drop off times. • When the doors have been shut by a member of staff, please exit/enter via the main office. • If someone different is collecting your child they will need to give your chosen password. • Children will free flow in the garden and classrooms from 9.10am and 12.40pm so please ensure your children arrives to nursery on time.

  5. Noticeboards, emails, texts, facebook and our website…. • All forms of communication are used to ensure parents are provided with a weekly newsletter, term dates special days and events 

  6. General Information Drop off time…. • Help your child to find their name card and settle into an activity. • If your child needs support separating from you, we are here to help. • Please be punctual (children become upset if late arriving at school or if adult is late collecting at home time). Pick up time… • Our circle time is at 11am and 2.30pm. Therefore if you need to pick up your child early, please pick up before these times so there are no interruptions to children’s learning.

  7. Back pack • Please bring a back pack with your child’s spare clothing and a carrier bag. • For safety reasons, please do not put any food in your child’s back pack. Please give any food items to a member of staff. • Snack for nursery needs to go in the basket in the classrooms. • Parents need to take their child’s packed lunch into the hall.

  8. Spare clothes • It is important to ensure your child arrives with appropriate indoor and outdoor clothing so they can access all learning the nursery has to offer. • New Bridge do have spare clothes, nappies, waterproofs and wellington boots.

  9. Snack and drink time • This consists of; • A choice of milk or water provided by nursery. • A healthy snack of fruit, vegetables, rice cakes or breadsticks kindly donated by parent/carers. • Please bring just one piece of fruit/vegetable on your child’s full day (once a week) to be shared with their key group. • Please do not bring a whole bag or bunch of fruit as this results in wastage.

  10. Modelling materials • Please bring in any recyclable materials for the children to design and create their own models e.g. rockets, robots, castles or masks. • For example foil, bottle tops, cardboard tubes, boxes.

  11. Voluntary donations • We would be extremely grateful to any voluntary donations you are able to offer towards nursery activities. • Money tins are next to the fruit basket in the classrooms or please visit the office. • £1.50 per week, £10 per term or £30 for the year will go towards weekly messy play activities, cooking and resources.

  12. Expectations of Behaviour • Children are rewarded for good behaviour. • They receive lots of individual praise. • If a child’s behaviour is unacceptable, we will discuss this with the child as it happens. • We will encourage the child to make the right choices. • We will encourage the child to think about the consequences of their actions and consider what they could do next. • They may be reminded of our ‘class charter.’ • If the behaviour continues they may be given some time out and we will inform parents at the end of the nursery session.

  13. Our class charter Sung to tune of: Frere Jacque. “We are gentle, we are gentle, We are kind, we are kind We are very helpful, we are very helpful, We play well, we play well!”

  14. Finally • Please don’t hesitate to pop in and see your child’s key person should you have any concerns or questions. • Telephone the school and leave a message. We’ll get back to you as soon as possible. Enjoy your child’s time at nursery,we look forward to working with you 
