Tormentato dai rimorsi, cerca poi di sviare i sospetti. Il capo dei ribelli, Dan Gallagher, indaga e scopre la verità. Inseguito e braccato nella nebbia, Gypo viene ferito a morte. Riesce comunque a trascinarsi in una chiesa e a implorare il perdono della madre dell'amico tradito.
