  1. 8th Grade Week 18 Agenda & Objectives1/2/2013-1/4/2013 Wednesday-Thursday: Expressively Reading • 8.5.3.3 Analyze how a text makes connections among and distinctions between individuals, ideas, or events (eg through comparisons, analogies, or categories). • 8.5.66 Determine an author’s point of view or purpose in a text and analyze how the author acknowledges and responds to conflicting evidence and viewpoints. • 8.11.6.6 Acquire and use accurately grade-appropriate general academic and domain specific words and phrases; gather vocabulary knowledge when considering a word or phrase important to comprehension or expression. Friday: Test/Reading Nonfiction • 8.5.1.1 Cite the textual evidence that most strongly supports analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text.

Give me your script when you’re done (remember: if you hand in your script with your name on it and it’s in decent shape, you get 1 EC point). Thursday: Anne Frank • 20 mins: • Pre-reading article on the causes of WWII. • Finish WWII worksheet due by the end of the period. • If you’re done with the worksheet early, work on your vocab: • AF Vocabulary Part I: • Finish the worksheet, and then look the words up (to double check your answers) and write them in your notebook. Notebook title: AF Vocab Part I. Due Monday. • Pass out book & take #s: The Diary of Anne Frank • Students absent yesterday will be graded on actively reading a part of Anne Frank. • Start popcorn reading The Diary of Anne Frank if time.Read to page 20 by Monday. • Don’t forget quiz & finished KML worksheet tomorrow!

When you’re finished, raise your hand, and quietly do your work. • When I’ve collected your test, read silently or work on vocab.
