After IPCC 2006 Volume 4 Chapter 1

Carbon – a GROWINGissue

There is as yet no agreed way to calculate the carbon foot print of a farm …..so how can sensible policy be formulated ?

Currently the emissions are calculated by identifying emission sources and multiplying by national emission factors

Can the farmer be credited for the carbon captured in the growing crop ?

But what should be included ?

Should the farmer get credit for the carbon embedded in the products which leave the farm e.g meat, milk, grain, vegetables etc.
