For him the use of razor or shaving the chin shall be as sinful as incest. • The practice is one of the Five Ks, the outward symbols ordered by Guru Gobind Singh in 1699 as a means to profess the Sikh faith. WWW.SIKHROLEMODEL.COM Kanga - Sikhism • KANGA • The Kanga is an article that allows the Sikh to care for his or her unshorn long hair, Kesh. • The kanga is usually tucked in front of the "Rishi Knot" and tied under the turban to help in keeping the rishi knot firm and in place. • It represents the importance of discipline and cleanliness to the Sikh way of life and is used to keep the hair healthy, clean, shining and tangle-free. • This was one of five articles of faith, collectively called Kakars

Millions upon millions offer millions of sermons and stories. • daydaa day laidaythakpaahi. jugaajugantarkhaaheekhaahi. • ਦੇਦਾ ਦੇ ਲੈਦੇ ਥਕਿ ਪਾਹਿ ॥ ਜੁਗਾ ਜੁਗੰਤਰਿ ਖਾਹੀ ਖਾਹਿ ॥ • The Great Giver keeps on giving, the receivers grow weary of receiving. May I never forget Him! ||6|| • ਤੀਰਥਿ ਨਾਵਾ ਜੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵਾ ਵਿਣੁ ਭਾਣੇ ਕਿ ਨਾਇ ਕਰੀ ॥ • Theerathh Naavaa Jae This Bhaavaa Vin Bhaanae K Naae Karee || • If I am pleasing to Him, then that is my pilgrimage and cleansing bath. Without pleasing Him, what good are ritual cleansings? • ਜੇਤੀ ਸਿਰਠਿ ਉਪਾਈ ਵੇਖਾ ਵਿਣੁ ਕਰਮਾ ਕਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਲਈ ॥ • Jaethee Sirath Oupaaee Vaekhaa Vin Karamaa K Milai Lee || • I gaze upon all the created beings: without the karma of good actions, what are they given to receive? Guru Granth Sahib: Page 2, Japji Sahib – 7th Paudi ਜੇ ਜੁਗ ਚਾਰੇ ਆਰਜਾ ਹੋਰ ਦਸੂਣੀ ਹੋਇ ॥ Jae Jug Chaarae Aarajaa Hor Dhasoonee Hoe || Even if you could live throughout the four ages, or even ten times more ਨਵਾ ਖੰਡਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਨਾਲਿ ਚਲੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥ Navaa Khanddaa Vich Jaaneeai Naal Chalai Sabh Koe || And even if you were known throughout the nine continents and followed by all, ਚੰਗਾ ਨਾਉ ਰਖਾਇ ਕੈ ਜਸੁ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਜਗਿ ਲੇਇ ॥ Changaa Naao Rakhaae Kai Jas Keerath Jag Laee || With a good name and reputation, with praise and fame throughout the world ਜੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਤ ਵਾਤ ਨ ਪੁਛੈ ਕੇ ॥ Jae This Nadhar N Aavee Th Vaath N Pushhai Kae || Still, if the Lord does not bless you with His Glance of Grace, then who cares? What is the use? ਕੀਟਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਕੀਟੁ ਕਰਿ ਦੋਸੀ ਦੋਸੁ ਧਰੇ ॥ Keettaa Andhar Keett Kar Dhosee Dhos Dhharae || Among worms, you would be considered a lowly worm, and even contemptible sinners would hold you in contempt. ਨਾਨਕ ਨਿਰਗੁਣਿ ਗੁਣੁ ਕਰੇ ਗੁਣਵੰਤਿਆ ਗੁਣੁ ਦੇ ॥ Naanak Niragun Gun Karae Gunavanthiaa Gun Dhae || O Nanak, God blesses the unworthy with virtue, and bestows virtue on the virtuous. ਤੇਹਾ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਸੁਝਈ ਜਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਣੁ ਕੋਇ ਕਰੇ ॥੭॥ Thaehaa Koe N Sujhee J This Gun Koe Karae ||7|| No one can even imagine anyone who can bestow virtue upon Him. ||7|| WWW.SIKHROLEMODEL.COM
