WALKING THRU EPHESIANS. Ephesians 4:1-3. To Walk…. In Greek, a “present progressive” verb. Denotes continual action. We walk like puppies, not in a straight line. Mistakes overtake us. But… Our direction is ever the same. We come back to the straight and narrow way.

  2. To Walk… • In Greek, a “present progressive” verb. • Denotes continual action. • We walk like puppies, not in a straight line. Mistakes overtake us. But… • Our direction is ever the same. We come back to the straight and narrow way. • Walking is also an active verb. • Note the “walks” in Ephesians.

  3. Walk in Disobedience • 2:1-2 • The world is so attractive, tempting. • “All my friends are doing it…” • Many of these things lead to death, physical, emotional, spiritual. • God can forgive and “make us alive.”

  4. Walk in Vanity • 4:17 • Note the progression in this text. • 2 Tim. 3:13 – “But evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.” • Vanity alone isn’t evil, just empty. But it has companions that are evil. • Again, an action verb. With continual “progress”.

  5. Walk Worthily • 4:1-3 • Living as a Christian is a moment by moment, day by day thing. • Not just being baptized. • Involves the right attitude, right doctrine, respectful of leadership. • Husbands, wives, parents and children each have a “way to walk. • This reflects on our Savior

  6. Walk in Love • 5:2 • Sacrifice for this love as Jesus did. • “Give” love vs. “Get” love. • Part of this sacrifice is giving up lust, greed. • No longer lie or steal. • “Redeeming the time” – 5:15-16.

  7. Walking as Children of Light • 5:8 • Illuminating the path to heaven for those in darkness. • Ruby Falls – the guide carries a light in case of power failure.

  8. Walk in Wisdom • 5:15-16 • It’s so easy to be wise and walk as a fool. • Again, the daily task of the Christian. • This “walking” daily is a constant Biblical admonition. Because people (OT and NT) struggle with consistency.
