MSE/TRI-TAC WIN-T JNN Network Linear/Non-linear Battlefield Area of Operations Non-linear Battlefield Expanded Area of Operations Cold-War Linear Battlefield Smaller Area of Operations • Non-integrated NetOps (Net Mgt, IA, & IDM-T) • At the Quick Halt Comms • Reduced footprint • Reduced manpower IAW TF Modularity • Primarily BLOS and limited LOS • GIG connectivity down to Bn • JWICS TS/SCI Tunneled through network (future) • Full integrated NetOps Capability (Net Management, IA, IDM) to include Speed of Service and QoS • On the Move Communications • Network Services integrated and embedded within Warfighting Platforms • Optimal use of manpower utilizing automated Services • Multi-tiered LOS & BLOS (Ground, Airborne, & Satellite) • GIG connectivity down to Bn • Fully integrates all systems to make one Unified Network (Net-Centric) • Network Management Capability • Limited Mobility • Large transportation requirements • Manpower intensive • Primarily LOS and limited BLOS • GIG connectivity down to Bde • TROJAN Spirit and other Stove Pipe systems supplement network

  4. CSTP • Rapid acquisition program serving as the focal point for DoD commercial earth terminal procurement, fielding and sustainment • Provides high reliability, high capacity and cost effective commercial SATCOM solutions to the Warfighter in single or multi-band configurations • 100% Customer Reimbursed Program (No Appropriated Funds) • 1500+ earth terminals fielded worldwide providing critical Warfighter communications Program Information Earth Terminals Other Services • Transportable/Transit Case – Flyaway, FTSAT, VSATs, JNTC (Hub and Trailer) • Prime Mover/Trailer Mounted – HMMWV • Deployable – Deployable Ku Earth Terminals (DKETs) • Fixed Site – Hub and Spoke (C & Ku Band) • Position Location – KLRS/OmniTRACs • Defense Satellite Communications System (DSCS) Certified Terminals • Engineering Studies, Assessments,Evaluations • Demonstrations, Experiments and Exercises • Market Surveys and Investigations • Rough Order Magnitude (ROM) Estimates • Contracting for Equipment, Spares, O&M Support • Source Selections and Contract Administration • Tests, Certifications and Acceptance of Systems • Fieldings, Operations & Maintenance, Logistics

  5. Mar 2005 JTRS JPEO Created Mar 05 ADM direction: • JPEO JTRS responsibilities • Manage execution of all JTRS R&D dollars • Develop JTRS WFs and radios • Transition developed JTRS produces to services for production • PEO C3T responsibilities • Manage execution of JTRS Cluster 1 OPA dollars • Budget Cluster 1 R&D/OPA dollars • Produce Cluster 1 radios • Develop Ancillary eq and platform unique installation kits • Field and sustain Cluster 1 radios (both HW and SW) JPEO Assessments • JTRS Cluster 1, JPO, JTRS Cluster 5, AMF, MID-J and JTRS Cluster 2 JPEO JTRS recommendation to Mr Wynne • Move development contract management to JPEO JTRS • Co-locate Cluster 1 PdM with JPEO JTRS

  8. WIN-T/CERDEC Science and Technology Investments • WIN-T leverages CERDEC Army Technology Objective (ATOs) further developing on the move technologies required to support Army Future Force • MARCON-I ATO program technologies / features are being used to deliver protocols and algorithms, QoS and bandwidth mitigation technologies and M&S support and evaluation of the networking capability required to support WIN-T • Antenna ATO will deliver WNW high gain antennas for WIN-T, integration of Ka/Ku panels into HMMWVs and analysis of phased array power amplifier efficiencies • RETNA ATO will provide a WN wideband power amplifier and mature enabling technologies to transition to WIN-T • Lab testing / demonstration will result in the development of COTM technologies in support of WIN-T from the OTM SATCOM ATOs Ka-band terminal experiments • COMPOSER ATO will provide three software product releases and a framework architecture which includes a Comm Effects Server (CES), Net Planner and 3D Visualizer • Aggressively manage technology fusion into future spirals • Set conditions to increase S&T investments in C4ISR due to expanded Net Centric and GIG requirements
