  3. Volunteer Tutor Program Volunteer Tutor Program • Free Tutors • Tutors are top UNT students • Available to ALL UNT students • Over 150 upper and lower level courses

  4. Online Tutoring Online Tutoring • Available during select times in afternoon and evening • Courses include: -Math -Physics -Statistics -Chemistry -Biology • Provided through live tutoring and online discussion board • Check back in the fall for full details

Supplemental Instruction Program Supplemental Instruction • Targets traditionally difficult courses • In class tutor • Group study sessions • Develop skills for future courses • Courses include: -Math 1010 -College Algebra -Political Science -History -English -Biology -Statistics -Music Theory

  6. Learning 101 Learning Success Workshops • Offered throughout the year • Workshops meet for one hour • Rotating schedule and topics • Topics include: -Time Management -Note Taking -Test Taking Tips & Anxiety -Learning Styles

  7. Study Skills Lab Study Skills Workshops • Offered throughout the year • 5 week series, meets once per week • Small group • $20 fee • Topics include: -Time Management -Note Taking -Test Preparation -Motivation

  8. Speed Reading Speed Reading Workshops • Offered throughout the year • 5 week series, meets once per week • $30 fee • Topics include: -Comprehension -Increasing Speed -Memory

  9. Academic Success Program Academic Success Program • Offered year-round • Required for Academic Alert students • Students will be contacted • 90 min group session with referral • Topics Include: -Study Skills -Campus Resources -Note Taking -Test Taking Tips

  10. Graduate School: The Guide to Getting In • Helps students showcase their best attributes when applying to graduate school. • Usually held twice a month • Topics include: -The Admissions Process -Preparing for Entrance Exams -Letters of Recommendation -Writing a Personal Statement

  11. Connecting For Success Connecting for Success • Referral program • Individualized Academic Assistance • One-on-one meetings with our staff available year-round • Creating connections between students and academic resources

Tips for Success • Attend and participate in EVERY class • Visit professors during their office hours • Refer often to your course syllabus • Ask questions • Use a planner • Attend campus events and join organizations • Prepare thoroughly for exams and assignments (DON’T CRAM!) • Start a study group • Use your campus resources
