The current church culture in North America is on life support. • Living off the work, money, and energy of previous generations. • The plug will be pulled when the money runs out • 80 percent of money given to congregations comes from people 55 and older • Or the generation of institutional loyalists die, • --- or both. • Reggie McNeal The Present Future

Membership in the Episcopal Church grew from 1.1 million members in 1925 to over 3.4 million members in the mid-1960s, an all time high. • Between 1970 and 1990, membership declined from about 3.2 million to about 2.4 million. • In 2010 the Episcopal Church had a baptized membership of 1,951,907, making it the nation's 14th largest denomination. • 3.4 Million to 1.9 Million in 50 years

Median attendance in Episcopal congregations was 66 in 2009, • The median age of Episcopalians is 57; fewer and fewer young people identify with TEC. • Unless the median age drops significantly or life expectancy increases very rapidly, • half of all Episcopalians will die in the next 18 years.

Ephesians 4:11-13
