Overview • Established 1997 as part of the International year of the Reef (IYOR) • Easy methodology ensures quick training with no prior knowledge necessary • Results indicative of health of reef and anthropogenic impacts • Now largest international coral reef monitoring program involving recreational divers and marine scientists • Over 1500 trained volunteer divers surveying over 250 sites • Result compiled by comparing fish and invertebrate species and substrate types which are indicators of the health of the reef
