This unit focuses on how our environment and culture shape our self-identity and lifestyle. Students will create a storyboard of their daily routine, reflecting on the similarities and differences between their own community and others around the world.

  1. Unit title: 我All about me Area of interaction focus Which area of interaction will be our focus? Why have we chosen this? Significant concepts What are the big ideas? What do we want our students to retain for years into the future? • Community and Service • Exploring the concepts of self, culture and identity. • Reflecting on the similarities and differences between my community and other communities around the world • The concept of identity in other countries can differ to that of our own country. • The culture and environment of a country determines one’s lifestyle. MYP unit question How does my environment and culture affect my self-identity and lifestyle?

  2. MYP assessment:Create a storyboard of your daily routine The success criteria is below. Check that you have done all of these things before handing it in. Success Criteria • Include at least 9 boxes – a box for each daily activity learnt from page 30.To gain the highest marks include further extension activities such as lessons you attend and at what time. • Include illustrations/images/photos. • You must write a description for each activity in Chinese characters, NOT pinyin. Include extra information and details to get the highest marks, such as likes, dislikes, other people, past tense. • Include the time and time phrases such as 上午,下午. • Use extension structures such as 和 and 也. • Check you have used the correct characters. • Make it look like a storyboard. • Make it eye-catching and ensure it is neat and done to the best of your ability!

  3. Example: 7.00 Basic: 我七点起床. Highest marks: 我星期一早上八点 起床,但是星期六 我上午十点半起床.
