Jehovah will deliver IsrealIsaiah 40-66 • Chapters 40-48 God’s greatness • Jehovah speaks to those faithful still left in Judah to comfort them. 40:1-2 • Isaiah looks forward to the day Jehovah will restore her glory by sending one to prepare the way of the Lord 40:3-5 Matt 3:1-4,11 • God’s word will stand forever 40:8 • Jehovah will come and His arm will rule for Him • He (Christ) will feed His sheep like a shepherd 40:10-11

  3. Jehovah will deliver Isreal • All nations are as nothing 40:17 • Who else is like Jehovah? 40:18 • There is none • Can He be compared to a god made by a mans hands? Absolutely not 40:19-20 • God sitteth upon the circle of the earth 40:22 • They that wait for Jehovah shall renew their strength. 40:29-31

Jehovah will deliver Isreal • The theme for this section is: The Mighty God • Behold My servant, in whom I have put my spirit to bring judgment to the Gentiles 42:1 • He will not fail nor be discouraged 42:4 • Before Me there was no God and non after Me 43:10 • He speaks of idols that see not, who made them? 44:9-10 • Jehovah is the only Savior men can rely on 44:21-24 • It is recorded that Cyrus is named as a servant of Jehovah his task was to perform all God’s pleasure 44:28 • The LORD directed Cyrus 45:1-2 we learn from Ezra and Nehemiah what God did with Cyrus • I am the LORD, there is no God beside Me 45:5

  5. Jehovah will deliver Isreal • Babylon did not show mercy to God’s people 47:6 • Therefore evil is coming upon you 47:11-13 • Hearken to the LORD, O Jacob, He will judge the nations 48:12-14 • The true redeemer is God 48:16-17 • There is no peace to the wicked 48:22

Israel shall be saved cp. 49-57 • God’s servant the Christ will not be given only for the benefit of Israel but for Gentiles as well • I will give Thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the ends of the earth 49:6 • Zion felt God had forsaken them 49:14-16 • Jehovah comforts His people and reassures them He has not abandoned them 51:3

Israel shall be saved cp. 49-57 • A most famous passage is found in Isaiah Chapter 53 • The Messiah’s coming will be different from what is expected 53:1-3 • He will be wounded for our transgressions 53:4-6 • Oppressed but did no wrong 53:7-9 • Through death He accomplished God’s will 53:10-12

Israel shall be saved cp. 49-57 • Jehovah hid His face from Israel 54:8 • No weapon formed against you will prosper 54:17 • All Israel is encouraged to seek the Lord and do His righteousness • His forbearance has been great because they had become the offspring of adulterers and harlots 57:3 • They sought other gods & turned not to God

Glorified Zion in the new dispensation is the Spiritual Kingdom 58-66 • Jehovah rebukes Israel for selfish worship • They worship their way not His way • If they would worship on the Sabbath as He commanded He would bless them 58:13 • Jehovah’s hand is not shortened 59:1-2 • Isaiah continues to confess the nation’s sins • Your hands are defiled with blood 59:3 • This is why justice is coming to you

Glorified Zion in the new dispensation is the Spiritual Kingdom 58-66 • There is no relief because of transgressions 59:9-15 • God will repay the adversaries of His people 59:19-20 • His covenant and Spirit will not depart from the children of the Redeemer 59:21 • Glorified Zion is described in cp 60-66 • She will be upheld in the midst of the nations that oppose her

  11. Glorified Zion in the new dispensation is the Spiritual Kingdom 58-66 • The Messiah’s work will be • Preach good tidings to the meek • Bind up the broken hearted • Proclaim liberty to the captives • Comfort those who mourn • All these things that He may be glorified 61:1-3

Glorified Zion in the new dispensation is the Spiritual Kingdom 58-66 • Zion will no longer be called Forsaken 62:4 • She will not be in a land called Desolate • She will have a new name • She will be called Hephzibah (My delight is in her) • Her land will be called Beulah • Jehovah will preserve Zion in the midst of the nations • Behold thy salvation cometh 62:11

Glorified Zion in the new dispensation is the Spiritual Kingdom 58-66 • The Lord watched over His people in the past and He will do it again • Isaiah calls upon God for help in his day • Isaiah confesses they are as one unclean 64:6 • You are the potter we are the clay 64:8-9 • Jehovah explains how they have been rebellious 65:3-4

  14. Glorified Zion in the new dispensation is the Spiritual Kingdom 58-66 • Some were saying to one another, “You stay over there, don’t come close for I am holier than you” 65:5 • This was like smoke to God’s nose • A new order will be created by God • A new heavens and earth • His spiritual blessings set figuratively 65:17-25 • Heaven is my throne and earth my footstool 66:1 • Jehovah will judge the wicked 66:15 • Zion will be enlarged and blessed 66:22-23
