Introduction to Meteors. Meteors also known “shooting /falling stars”. They are only rocks reflecting off of the Sun, therefore creating light. The Size of Meteors. Some are large enough to fall all the way to Earths surface. Most are no bigger than an Earth rock.

  1. Introduction to Meteors • Meteors also known “shooting /falling stars”. • They are only rocks reflecting off of the Sun, therefore creating light.

  2. The Size of Meteors • Some are large enough to fall all the way to Earths surface. • Most are no bigger than an Earth rock. • They may be as large as a basketball. • Meteors usually disintegrate before reaching Earth’s atmosphere.

  3. The Surface The surfaces of meteors are listed below: • Stony • Stony-Iron • Iron • Iron-Nickel • Olivine enclosed metal • Balset lava rock • Olivine bronzite

  4. Location In Solar System • Their locations vary from Earths atmosphere to the rest of the solar system.

  5. Temperature • The temperature may vary if facing the Sun or not.

  6. Spacecraft Mission Destination: Meteors Mission: To collect samples of rocks from passing by meteorites. Our spacecraft has a robot traveling on it. Also, food is supplied for her.
