  2. Diamond knurl definition • A diamond knurl consists of helical grooves on a circular body. One set of grooves are right handed and another is left handed. • Knurl pitch is the ”perpendicular” distance between grooves. • Helical pitch is derived from knurl angle. • Diamond knurl angle α= 60° • Cross knurl angle α= 45° • Helical pitch = π*D*tanα Thomas Meldert

  3. Summary of method • Create a helical right hand cut • Make a pattern of it • Create a helical left hand cut • Make a pattern of it • Finished Thomas Meldert

  4. Step 1 Insert a helical sweep cut Thomas Meldert

  5. Step 2 Define attributes Thomas Meldert

  6. Step 3 Define sweep profile Start the sweep profile offset from knurl start Thomas Meldert

  7. Step 4 Define helical pitch Thomas Meldert

  8. Step 5 Define section Thomas Meldert

  9. Step 6 First helical cut completed Thomas Meldert

  10. Step 7 Create a left hand cut in the same way Thomas Meldert

  11. Step 8 Create a pattern of each cut Derive no of grooves n from: n=π*D/P/cos(90- α) P=knurl pitch Choose the closest integer I of n β=pattern angle β=360/I Create pattern through axis withI no of featuresat an angle of β FINISHED Thomas Meldert
