  1. Hmmm… what should I eat? NO • Refrigeration • glass containers • Liquids: milk, juice, pop  Everything will be made with water! NO NO

  2. Fresh meat  first evening meal – bring frozen and sealed Bacon? if sealed will last for 3 to 4 days! Lunch meat… dry salami - sealed 2nd day, NO sliced deli meat Eggs  yes but be careful! Second day only! Cheese , Tuna, Peanut Butter… Hmmm… what protein should I eat? yes, but... yes yes yes

  3. Carbohydrates Fruit & Veg. Will get squished! Carrots Apples & oranges = heavy but nice Fruit roll ups as a snack • Will get squished! • Bagels, pitas • Noodles • Rice

  4. Considerations: • One burner stove, or fire • No oven • Simple “one pot meal” • Dried food • Not ``squashable`` it will be in a backpack • No pancakes for breakfast • No cooking at lunch

  5. Helpful hints • Ensure you have enough but no extra – all food is carried and eaten • All non-paper packaging comes home with us the more packaging you bring the more garbage that must be portaged! • Think about the little extra’s (salt & peper, ketchup etc.) • Do what you know but make it good to avoid dinner envy! – there are no backups! • Eat well & live well food can make and break a trip
