Unit Summary

This course is designed to enhance the English capability of second year high school students. The activities for this course are as follows: interview, answering phone calls, instruction/direction reading. These are the activities that will target the two macro skills: reading and speaking.

By creating this unit, we want to

  • Instill the importance of the English Language

  • To explore ways on how to leave a mark about the two macro skills: Reading and Speaking on the minds of our students

    During this unit, we want our students to

  • Learn ways to connect English Language to their daily lives

  • Utilize technology in relation to English Language

As our students work on this project, they

  • Relate the topic into their real life experiences

  • Cooperate with peers and community members

  • Involve their selves to the real world situations

  • Share their learning with real audiences

Students will develop higher-order and 21st century skills in this unit as they

  • Utilize the Essential and Unit Questions to guide their understanding on the lesson

  • Reflect on their reading and speaking performances and modify and acclimatize them as necessary

  • Utilize project assessments for self-assessment and corrective feedback

Use CFQs to learn

  • Students’ ideas about the relationship of English Language to reading and speaking

  • Background knowledge of parts of speeches such as: noun and pronoun; kinds of sentences and intonations

  • Capacity to see the interrelatedness of the given topics to reading and speaking activities

  • Focus on parts on the technicalities of the language students have prior misconceptions about

  • Prepare activities in which they will answer their questions

  • Develop their reading and speaking skills in line to the standards

  • Set intentions for how they will adjust their reading and speaking styles
